Music Score: Simoncelli's tribute, he died with his boots on.

It was exciting, as well as a bit sad, watching Valencia's GP today. Simoncelli's number 58, was invading each every corner on the circuit and the paddock, and along with it, Simoncelli's memory. Watching Marco's bike for the very last time ever, ridden by the great Kevin Schwantz and surrounded by all bikes from all different categories, was without a doubt the best tribute the Italian rider could receive, and will become one of those images and moments that will stick forever into the memories of all motor sport lovers.

In such a "farewell" day, with Loris Capirossi retiring after 22 years racing, Andrea Dovizioso's last race for Honda, and the last race with 800 cc engines, the least important thing was the result of the race. It was very strange indeed, watching the race without Simoncelli in it, and realizing that we will not see him again ridding a bike, pushing it to the limits, giving the thrills to the show with his peculiar style, probably led by his big height, but mostly led by the way he understood this sport. With just 24 years old and not being a veteran on the MotoGP, he had the charisma that only leaders have, the presence of those who leave their own mark when they are gone and he was pretty much as that since his earlier stages in MotoGP. He sure was one of those uncomfortable opponents for the other riders, his agressive style was criticized often by his main rivals such as Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa. But the truth is, that whether you were a Simoncelli supporter or not, it was always exciting watching him ride, wondering what was going to happen in the next corner whenever he was approaching another rider. Personally, I would have included myself as a Marco's non-supporter, but as soon as he passed away, I realized in that precise moment how much I was going to miss him each every time I would see a race.

I guess something like that must have been the same feeling his main opponents might have felt, some things come in pairs, like night and day, where one wouldn't exist without the other, well, you know, that old story about the superheroe who wouldn't exist if there wasn't a villain to defeat, and viceversa.

In this case, our superheroe is Marco Simoncelli, who died with his boots on, doing what he enjoyed the most and so he proved until the very last breath of life, holding tight to his bike, not letting the handlebar go, even if it was gonna cost his life.

In his memory I'd like to humbly dedicate today's Music Score, or Soundtrack if you will, which in this case comes from my own crop. It's a song called Breaking Point, which I also wrote as the soundtrack for a shortfilm, and which talks about a young fella who lives his life to the limit, walking the thin line between life and death, assuming the risks that it takes to live fast. I also find the song appropiate, I think it's one of those hard rock oriented songs that might be suitable to listen to during a fast ride on a bike.

Rest in Peace Marco, and thanks so much for spreading so many great moments to so many of us, all accross the globe.
